Faith That Lives Out
(Romans 2:21-24)

What if there is no change in your life despite claiming to believe? A person who truly meets Jesus experiences a Great Historical Transformation that shifts the very direction of their life. All of us—who have heard, learned, and taught the Word—must stand honestly before this piercing question.

1.Knowing vs. Living
The ancient Jews were complacent simply because they possessed and taught the Law. Even as they rushed toward destruction carried by sheer momentum, they firmly believed they were spiritually safe. However, possessing the Law never guarantees that you are living it out. The fact that you have been a believer for a long time, or that you know much of the Word, is not evidence that you are living by it. True evidence of faith is not the knowledge you possess, but the obedience you live out.

2.Teaching vs. Transgressing
The Apostle Paul exposes the conduct of the Jews in three specific areas. While teaching “Do not steal,” they took wealth dishonestly. While proclaiming “Do not commit adultery,” they fell before lust. While claiming to loathe idols, they snatched the holy offerings that belonged to God. Yet they remained trapped in a delusion of safety. The reason this accusation feels so sharp today is that the same sinful nature lives within us. Because it is a sin committed while teaching others, the guilt is even heavier.

3.TWitnessing with Truth
When a believer’s life contradicts the Word, the result is never just a personal issue. Because of us—who are supposed to glorify God’s name—that very name is blasphemed among the Gentiles. If we profess to believe but live no differently from the world, people will not hesitate to mock and blame God. Our lives themselves are the most truthful witness of the Lord. Let us now sincerely repent of our old ways, rely completely on Jesus Christ, and resolve to live according to the Word.
