The Son of God with the Power of the Resurrection (Romans 1:3-4) - Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

The Power of the Resurrection
(Romans 1:3-4)

“God’s love? Honestly, I don’t really know God is high up in heaven, and I’m here struggling every day on earth. Does He really know the pain I’m going through? Even if He does, does He actually care?”

  1. The Sonship
Many people think this way. Yet there is a truth that completely breaks such doubt. The Son of God gave up all the glory He had enjoyed from eternity and became man. For God to become man means a total, irreversible change. You say God’s love is abstract? It is not. Because of that love, God Himself came down to this very place where we stand.

  2. The Compassion
Why did the One who was equal with God have to come to this world? He laid aside every divine prerogative and glory and humbled Himself to the position of a Son who obeyed even to the point of death. He grew tired, hungry, and in pain just like us. He saw the sorrow, the burdens, and the disappointments of life—the many lies along the road of human existence—and He knew how pitiful and tragic life becomes apart from God’s grace. Can you still doubt such a God? He knows our lives more deeply than we do ourselves.

  3. The Proof
“How can I be sure that’s true?” It’s a fair question. But there is decisive evidence: the resurrection. The power to conquer death belongs to God alone. Though people nailed Jesus to the cross and killed Him, He rose again on the third day. That removes every doubt. He truly is the Son of God, the One who can take away our sins and give us eternal life. The resurrection is the official and final proclamation that Jesus Christ is God.
